Your Overall Health Can Be Linked to Your Environment
Sometimes the best medicine to help you move forward with your overall health is to physically change location. To many, this can sound extreme but doctors for millennia have encouraged those with chronic illness to move to a specific location to give their body the best chance at a partial to full recovery. In episode 23 of the Primal Pioneer, we are diving into a natural and science-based approach to health. I will be talking all about relocation, not necessarily real estate, but relocation when it comes to your health.
But before we dive right in, let me introduce myself in case this is your first visit. I am your host, Heathar Shepard and I am incredibly passionate about helping people JUST LIKE YOU find the health and happiness they truly deserve.
Besides being an alternative healer and integrative health coach, I’m also a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor who struggled for 10 years until I discovered the MOST important factor for overall health: the environment we live and work in. And in The Primal Pioneer, I share what 98+% of doctors don’t tell you (or don’t even know!) about true health and wellness. You’ll learn about the importance of sunlight, as well as the foods and eating cycles that heal the root causes of chronic disease. And in an age dominated by technology, you’ll discover how EMF mitigation can drastically improve your life.
Everyone has their healing journey with their unique struggles...but I’m here to give you all the tools you need to make that healing happen!

Your Overall Health Can Be Linked to Your Environment, Point #1: The thought of relocating for your overall health can seem ludicrous, however, the choice to relocate in support of my health has been an absolute blessing.
I know this topic may be a tough pill to swallow for some, the thought of relocating just to support your health. This can seem completely overwhelming and like such an impossible task. Sometimes we can get caught up with work, taking care of our kids, keeping a close eye on any elderly parents, these obstacles can make us feel that relocation will never be an option. While I have faced many of these challenges as well when considering relocation, I can say now that for my family, community, and loved ones, I show up in deeper ways for them and myself.
This choice to relocate to support my health has been an absolute blessing for my personal, professional life. Especially in terms of relationships. While some people can achieve their version of optimal health in the location they’re currently at, I have found that with many of my clients, especially those sick, the best medicine has been relocation.
For me, this has been the best medicine as well. This has inspired me to travel to different locations just to observe how my body responds to a particular environment. The number one factor that most notably influences my health seems to be the environment I’m in long-term.

Your Overall Health Can Be Linked to Your Environment, Point #2: I’m sharing my personal healing story with relocation in hopes that you resonate with this and consider it for your healing journey.
One February morning, I was driving to work. I lost control of my car and split a telephone pole in two. I suffered brain injuries, but these didn't show up on CAT scans or MRIs. However, they did show up loud and clear in my physical body. Whenever I would walk, I would feel this pressure in my head so intensely that I had to sit down or lay down for most of the day.
This continued to occur for years after my accident. Physical activity was totally out of the question, and if I did participate in anything like running, jogging, or trying to lift weights, it left me dizzy. I was fatigued for days and I would have migraines that lasted for a week or so.
After going from specialist to specialist in Knoxville, TN where the accident occurred, only for them to tell me I was fine and to return to work, I knew something was wrong. I wasn’t going to get the help I needed there. I decided to leave, so I packed my bags and headed to Portland Oregon.
I would have acupuncture done in Portland and I experienced full relief of my symptoms, this was eye-opening and inspired me to learn more about the alternative healing world. However, the longer I was in Portland, the worse I felt in my physical body. I loved the people, the mindset, and the alternative medicine offered in Portland but even despite all those awesome factors, my health was going downhill. I felt this mostly in anxiety and energy levels. If you’re unfamiliar with Portland, it rains and the sun hardly comes out. There is a lot of darkness and gloominess, this combination will make anyone with a brain injury, depression, and gut issues worse.
Later on, I had a vivid dream one night about Santa Fe, New Mexico. This dream stuck with me, so a few months later I packed up to go for a vacation and see what was in Santa Fe. I never left the vacation, and I never returned to Portland. I decided to relocate to Santa Fe and stayed for the next 8 years. I stayed because as soon as I set foot in that state, I felt better. Maybe it was being grounded, I was living by a huge garden and water. There was lots of sunlight. This was a gradual improvement, nothing is instantaneous. I knew I wasn’t cured and this would take some time. I started to feel better immediately, so moving was well worth it for me.

Your Overall Health Can Be Linked to Your Environment, Point #3: Is moving worth it for you? Most people don’t fully connect the dots between their living environment and how it impacts their health.
Is moving well worth it for you? Most people don’t fully connect the dots between their living environments and how it impacts their health. There’s a lot of different layers to this, so I want to help you understand this connection more deeply. Here are the top four things to consider when it comes to your environment. When you are relocating it’s important to know how these factors impact your health.
Firstly is latitude. Latitude is the degree at which your city or town is located. The question is, why is this a big deal when it comes to your health? This boils down to sunlight availability. The higher your latitude, the less sunlight you will receive yearly. Secondly, population density. The more people living in your area, the more EMF exposure you will have. New York for example, in 2018 had a population of 8.4 million people, they have a predicted average of 12 devices per person. Living in these high population dense places is almost like living in a radio and microwave oven. This is ultimately not good for your health whatsoever.
Thirdly, EMFs. We just touched on this in the previous point but it’s so crucial to acknowledge the more density in a population, the more EMFs you will be exposed to. In return, there’s a lot of cell towers as well. These need to be removed or mitigated to allow your immune system and mitochondria cells to heal fully. Seek a location as far from a cell tower as possible. And lastly, water. If you can find a community with a low population density near the ocean, pack your bags, and leave tomorrow. Here’s why - I live right by a creek now and I take full advantage. Water is such an amazing source for cold hydrotherapy, recharging your batteries. Having this access to water is a reboot and very healing.

Hi, I am Heathar
With over 12 years experience as an alternative healer, integrative health coach and one who has been through severe physical injury trying every remedy under the sun to heal myself with no avail…I’m here to tell you, all of those things are not only attainable but are foundational to achieving optimal health and are core elements to overcoming all chronic and stubborn diseases.
At the age of 23 I suffered a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) preventing me from the ability to engage in physical activity for over 12 years post my car accident. Today, I know I could have recovered from this injury much quicker if I had known then what I know now! But….the accident lead me down the healing path. A path that I was destined to take to help myself heal and to learn how to help others heal complicated and chronic disorders as well.
During this time, I learned two things: How to harness the healing power of sunlight and how to utilize frequency based medicine to facilitate biological transformations in the body - all the way down to the mitochondrial level.
Today, I lead an active life and you can bet I’m uber passionate about teaching others how they can overcome even the most daunting health experiences that most medical professionals have band-aid solutions for, at best.

And today, my health continues to improve each day and I now lead an active, healthy lifestyle - all of which I thought would never be possible to achieve again. All it took was discovering the most effective path to health and healing to get me there and now, to help my clients get there as well!

Your Overall Health Can Be Linked to Your Environment, Point #4: Our excessive and instantaneous access to modern technology plays a huge factor in our overall health.
Wi-Fi, cell phones, cell towers, these are not health disturbing roadblocks that our ancient ancestors had to face. Certainly, these are roadblocks that we have to face today. We have to consider our environment.
Taking New York for example with 8.4 million people. All these people owning electronic devices, imagine everybody in their tiny apartments and owning a wifi box. That’s a lot of exposure to wifi. You can do the math to determine how much radiofrequency and microwave exposure you are getting. Take the population count and multiply by the average amount of devices per person.
Ultimately, the lower amount of people in the area, the less EMF exposure. Wifi routers emit 700 million to 2.1 billion microwaves per second. There’s a lot you can do about this, learn how to get rid of wifi but still be connected using a hard-wired connection. This is a healthy solution I recommend to all my clients to support their health. This will remove all those microwave pulses you are getting in your home. If you are trying to heal but you're around this environment, it’s going to be very hard to get to root causes for your health struggles and remove those struggles. We know microwaves cause cancer, damage DNA, and decrease the amount of water your mitochondria pumps out.
The Bottom Line of Your Overall Health Can Be Linked to Your Environment
If you're someone who struggles with a chronic health issue, exploring the idea of relocation and the shifts it could bring to your overall health may be well worth the consideration. This method does require a lot of life shifts, but depending on how sick you are and what your struggles are health-wise, this could be the perfect medicine for you.
I hope you found this episode all about relocation and the environment supportive of your healing path. For years I struggled with my health and my TBI recovery. Each day I would simply find ways to try and make it to the next day. I was just hoping that I would get better one day. Nothing changed until I changed my location and environment.
